Mozilla (Firefox)

So you want to delete or reset your Mozilla Firefox Account? Let's help you with that!

Our system has detected one of two potential issues:

  • Compromised Password: The password you use for your Firefox Account has been found in a known data breach, making it insecure and putting your account at risk.

  • Use of Work Email: Your work email is being used for a personal service, which is against company policy to ensure the security and integrity of our systems.

Please follow the relevant instructions below to resolve this issue immediately.

Part 1: Scenario: Your Password Has Been Compromised

If you were notified about a compromised password, you must change it immediately to protect all the data synced to your account. The fastest way to do this is using the "Forgot password?" feature.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Navigate to the Password Reset Page: Go directly to the Firefox Account password reset page.

  2. Enter Your Email Address: Enter the email address associated with your Firefox Account and click "Continue".

  3. Check Your Email: Mozilla will send a password reset email to your inbox. If you don't see it, check your spam or junk folder.

  4. Create a New, Strong Password: Open the email and click the reset link. You will be prompted to create a new password. Choose one that is strong, unique, and not used on any other website.

After completing this, your account and synced data will be secure.

If you were also notified about using a work email, please proceed to Part 2.

Part 2: Scenario: Your Work Email is Used on the Account

Using a company email for personal services is against Aftra's security policy. You have two options to resolve this.

Option A: Change the Email on Your Account (Recommended)

This is the best option if you want to keep your Firefox Account and all its synced data (bookmarks, passwords, history, etc.).

  1. Log In and Go to Settings: Log in to your Firefox Account settings.

  2. Start the Change Process: In the "Credentials" section, find your "Primary email" and click the "Change" button next to it.

  3. Verify Your Current Email: For security, Mozilla will send a verification link to your current work email address. Open that email and click the link to confirm you are the owner.

  4. Enter and Verify Your New Email: After verification, you will be prompted to enter your new personal email address. Mozilla will then send another verification link to your new email. Open this final email and click the link to complete the change.

Option B: Permanently Delete Your Account

If you no longer need the account or its synced data, you can delete it permanently.

Warning: This action is permanent and immediate. All your synced data—including bookmarks, passwords, history, and add-ons—will be instantly erased from Mozilla's servers. This cannot be undone.

  1. Log In and Go to Settings: Log in to your Firefox Account settings.

  2. Locate the Deletion Button: Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the "Account management" section and click the red "Delete account" button.

  3. Confirm Deletion: Read the warning on the confirmation page carefully. You must re-enter your account password to confirm your identity. Click the final "Delete account" button to permanently erase your account and all its server-side data.

Thank you for taking prompt action to secure your account and comply with your company's security policies.
