So you want to delete or reset your Pinterest.com account? Let's help you with that!
Our system has detected one of two potential issues:
-
Compromised Password: The password you use for Pinterest has been found in a known data breach, making it insecure and putting your account at risk.
-
Use of Work Email: Your work email is being used for a personal service, which is against company policy to ensure the security and integrity of our systems.
Please follow the relevant instructions below to resolve this issue immediately.
Part 1: Scenario: Your Password Has Been Compromised
If you were notified about a compromised password, you must change it immediately to protect your account from unauthorized access. The fastest way to do this is using the password reset feature, even if you still remember the old one.
Step-by-Step Guide:
-
Navigate to the Password Reset Page: Go directly to the Pinterest password reset page.
-
Enter Your Account Identifier: Enter your email, name, or username associated with the account to find it. Click "Submit".
-
Check Your Email: Pinterest will send a password reset link to the email address on file. If you don't see it, check your spam or junk folder.
-
Create a New, Strong Password: Open the email and click the link to create a new password. Choose one that is strong, unique, and not used on any other website.
After completing this, your account will be secure.
If you were also notified about using a work email, please proceed to Part 2.
Part 2: Scenario: Your Work Email is Used on the Account
Using a company email for personal services is against Aftra's security policy. You have two options to resolve this.
Option A: Change the Email on Your Account (Recommended)
This is the best option if you wish to keep your Pinterest account, your Pins, and your boards.
-
Log In and Go to Settings: Log in to your Pinterest account. Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner and select "Settings".
-
Navigate to Account Management: In the left-hand navigation menu, click on "Account management".
-
Update and Verify Your Email: In the Email field, replace your work email with your new personal email address. Click "Save". Pinterest will send a confirmation link to your new email address. You must open that email and click the link to finalize the change.
Option B: Permanently Delete Your Account
If you no longer need the account, you can permanently delete it.
Warning: This action is irreversible after 14 days. Your account is first deactivated. If you do not log in within 14 days, it will be permanently deleted, along with all your Pins and boards. Logging back in during this period will reactivate the account.
-
Go to Account Management: Follow Steps 1 and 2 from Option A to get to the "Account management" page in your Settings.
-
Start the Deletion Process: Scroll down to the "Account changes" section and click on "Delete your account and data". Click "Continue".
-
Confirm via Email: Select a reason for leaving, then click "Send email". Pinterest will send a final confirmation link to your email address. You must open that email and click the button within 24 hours to start the 14-day deletion process.
Thank you for taking prompt action to secure your account and comply with your company's security policies.
